Hope everyone had a great weekend. We were a little on the rainy side…but it makes the garden smile!
Marianne made a comment about Kara’s Moon, so this gives me a chance to address several email questions I received recently about whether it will be published. I wrote Kara’s Moon way back in 1996, after a visit to the Seattle area. I wrote it just to be writing something, never with the intent to publish. Actually, back in 1996, I had no idea I would ever be published! I love Kara’s Moon, maybe because it was the first one that really just flowed and I had no expectations for it. One Summer Night was already written but far from published and anything I penned after that was simply for my own pleasure or for the handful of friends who wanted to read it. To be honest, I don’t remember who encouraged me to post it online and I can’t recall the first website to host it, but I do need to thank Steph from The Academy of Bards for emailing me way back when asking if she could post it on their site too. I received wonderful feedback from the many readers of the site, and as a writer, that’s all the encouragement you need to continue writing.
But for me, Kara’s Moon is just a reminder of a more innocent me, who wrote just for the pleasure of it without any expectations. I have no intention of publishing it. It’s out on my website and many others, and it’s simply for readers to enjoy at their leisure. I do like to go back and read it occasionally, if only to reinforce to myself that I’ve grown as a writer in the last ten years. And even with all of the characters I’ve created and nurtured, Ginny and Kara’s romance still remains a favorite of mine.
