Some of you are aware that i have been busy as a worker bee the last couple weeks. I’m turning to a new page in my life and although most of the time I feel certain the decisions that led me here have been the right ones, it’s difficult to move on and not have some regrets. Even more changes will be coming in the next few weeks and I have even more decisions to make. Don’t you just hate it when you have to be a responsible adult? I can’t tell you the times in my life when I went happily head first into something that I thought would be amazing only to wish a few weeks, months later that I had used more caution. Cause it wasn’t nearly as amazing as I thought it would be!
So … I’m giving y’all a new page on Thursday because I won’t be around for the weekend. I’m leaving out early Friday for a trip to the mountains and I won’t be near a computer so if you accidentally get stuck in moderation, you’re most likely gonna be there until Monday. In other words, be sure your user name and email address are in the little boxes before you comment!

Well this is a first, I am the first to post today….Yeah, I FINALLY get to be on top….bad girl, I know
Well, there is lots to report, but I don’t have much time to do so. I have a friend who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and is scheduled for a double mastectomy in a few days. I have been very busy with assisting her to get ready for the event. I cut her hair, a very dramatic time for her as you all are well aware. Anyway, she has a great website and I will post the link later today. Send her lots of well wishes, and another thing….MY GURLY has a lump in her breast that now must have a looking at by an MRI….lordy I am very concerned right now.
Okay, gotta get to work, just a quick note to ask for well wishes our way.

Good luck with your decision . Follow your heart and you will know if you have made the right one. Have fun in the mts.I know Pat and myself had a blast. Just getting away from everyday things clears the mind and gets the soul ready to take on new things in life.
Cheri, we all wish your friend luck with her double mastectomy. That was so kind of you to cut her hair. With just you standing by her with give her all the support that a person can want and need. We are all behind her also. Tell your girl to please go get checked out. We want to keep all of us around as long as possible.
Norma, got your other email. I say that Pat and I have a date morning “almost” every morning. Sometimes 4 am is just to early but it is always fun. i will email you today.

Well, Raye, a caipirinha is a drink that has ingredients similar to a Margarita, but instead it’s lime juice, sugar, and cachaca, a Brazillian liquor.

Hello gals…I know it has been a while since Lin and I have been on here…it has been quite hectic with work and life in general. Lin is out of the hospital, obviously, but still not 100% (I was hoping I could find a nurse halloween costume to take care of her). Now Kylie is going for surgery tomorrow. Talk about hectic…and I found out that my job is no longer secure (after they ask me to transfer down south) and that we will be filing chapter 7 here soon…URG…SO Lin and I will be up bright and early at 530 am to get Kylie to the hospital and we will be there almost all day…
Other than that I hope everyone out there is doing well. I promise to be better at keeping up with this…I am still waiting for Partner’s to show up in the mailbox!!! I could have finished it while I was waiting in the hospital! It’s a toss up now who gets to read it first…(don;t tell Lin, but I have staked claims on it, wink wink)..well, I have to head out,….check email, the same old same old…

It is going to be another long day. My sister has her homecoming football game tonight against their rival. It is a big game. It is held at the local community college stadium that holds 30,000 people and it is almost always sold out.

Just a quick note and update!
My friends left this earth yesterday morning forty five minutes after I got to the hospital. It truly was the most INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE I’ve ever been a part of. I will share details later as I have to hurry and get going. Unfortunatly I have to get all the things done today…that I didn’t get done yesterday and then I will be going back over to my friends house for a bit.
SERIOUSLY….The last question that was ask of MARGE and she knew the “right” answer to……

We are finally home and Ky is sleeping soundly in her own bed. She was such a big girl and didnt let the doctors scare her…now she has a “superman” mouth as she is describing it. Thanks so much for everyones prayers…I wish you could see the angel in my arms in the recovery room (it was so upsetting, they would only let the biological mother in the waiting room!!!) so Lin waited outside til Ky came out of anesthesia…my girls were such troopers!!!! Well, the holiday was ok, but would not go to Egypt again, the airport there on both arrival and departure was an absolute nightmare! Egyptian men are complete masogenists and their idea of all inclusive leaves a fair bit to be desired… you all know how I like my food?… I barely ate all week, think I must be the only person ever to go on an all inclusive holiday and lose weight, lol. Lord do I sound like a little sod or what. The weather was gorgeous, as was the beach and I went snorkelling everyday to look at all the pretty fishes (had to leave the “little” out of that sentence as some of them were far from, in fact some were down right huge and scarey!) as there were several reefs just off the hotels beach.
Glad to be back tho and looking forward to catching up with you all.

Shyfox, I started with Williams Hospitality. That was purchased by Wyndham Hotels, Preferred Hotels Division & when I left, it was part of a Hilton.
I liked Williams the most, because its was very guest oriented & was an small company, where I have a sense of belonguing. I don’t like those big companies where you are just another number in the payroll.
Hilton is OK, but is a monster of a co.
I used to be the Dir. of Finance, but before I got there I worked my butt up, starting as Income Auditor & Night Auditor. I worked very closely with F&B, and for me that is the Dept. where you work the most in a hotel. It’s a 24-7 stressing job & I don’t envy you.
But I must tell you, that even when I do not work in a hotel anymore, I think that there is nothing better that to be part of a good hotel & if you liked it, you are hooked in it forever

lol, yeah, I kinda like to hang out with the night auditor towards the end of the night when things are slowing down and I’m getting a bit fed up his dry humour and sinicle additude towards… everything never fails to to lift my mood. And I totally agree with your comment about being part of a good hotel, the hotel I work in now is a great hotel with a great team, and that’s why, despite not liking the company much, I’ll probably never move again.
Hmmm…little further explaination SS, sorry, the hotel I’m in now was originally intercontinental the first couple of years I worked there and got bought by premier inn, but the team is still the same.
What is your position in F&B?
I had to to everything in the hotel when the union employees were on a strike. Had to make beds, cleaned bathrooms, serve Room Serv., Front Desk, drive the limo. The worst guest to please were the casino ones. They think they deserve the world. Never worked in the barm, probably, would have overpoured all drinks.

I’m the assistant manager F&B, we’re very closely invoved with C&B aswell, and I too have done my fair share of everything, only thing I can’t do (this will make you laugh considering I’m a Duty Manager too) is check in… but it’s not my fault! Because I’m not reception I can’t have a BART password so therefore I can not check in. And what you said about NAs is trues, but to be honest, they’re my favourites.

I am hoping all is going well for everyone. These full moon days are very hard on a body and mind….
My gurly’s doc called to say she thinks the lump is a lympoma (sp?) and not cancerous but still needs to come out. She will be scheduling an MRI for further review, but the doc is the one who found the lump in the first place. Yes, she is being a good girl and doing what is asked of her. I am very relieved….
I am off to have coffee with my friend. She has her double mastectomy on Wednesday. I made her a hat and scarf to keep her warm here in these very cold wintery days of ours. I am also making her a afghan to wrap herself in. It has been years since I crocheted anything, and it is as if I never put that hook down….

Shyfox, the Asst. Mgrs. in F&B put a lot of work hours. In my Hotel, there was a large turnover in that position, because they never were paid enough. I only remember one women Asst. F&B and she left, because she never had time for herself or her family.
You know who I think have the best job in a hotel, Marketing. They are always in meetings or cocktails, they get the credit for the revenues and for the success of the activities, but if something goes wrong, them the fault is operations (F&B or Rooms), because they did not follow instructions or did not provide good service. Besides, because they are never good with numbers, Accounting always have to do their finance job for them. That is my experience with Sales & Marketing.
Cheri, best wishes for your “gurly.” It’s good they caught it and don’t think it’s malignant. Am sorry about your friend you’re meeting Wednesday, but she’s lucky to have a friend like you, and a nice warm afghan, too. Glad you like my “sneaky” pic, as Norma calls it. JT. Yes. I loved my job. I worked 27 yrs. in the industry. Started very young in one hotel, work 4 yrs and then, worked 23 yrs in my second & last hotel. I loved the hotel and the people I worked with like my family and I miss the stress, the action, the everyday pressure. The sense of belonging is something special & I had it in my job no matter the bad times. And when you work in a hotel office, the working atmosphere is very different from a regular office in any other type of job, because hospitality employees are different.
I’m sure your guests enjoyed their stays at your hotel. It’s always wonderful to have someone who cares working, the alternative is usually a miserable and unpleasant experience, which I think all of us have had at some point.

SS, we have 3 different fires going in So Cal right now. They are about 30, 70, and 120 miles away from us. We can see the smoke and smell the smoke from the one closest to us. The winds are pretty bad. We had 20-40 mile per hour winds which is not unusual for us for this time of year in our area. It is over 90 degrees so we have the ac on and are quite comfortable. Thanks for your concern.
